UHI Shetland Library

Service update for UHI Shetland Library

Welcome to our new and returning students!
  • We are open:
  • REMEMBER TO RETURN YOUR LIBRARY LOANS - please return library resources to one of the libraries, or to one of the Library Return boxes.  There's a Library Return box in the entrance foyer of the Lerwick campus and one at the entrance to the John Goodlad Centre building at the Scalloway campus.  Alternatively you can return resources to us, for free, by post - please contact library.shetland@uhi.ac.uk, or telephone (01595) 771258, for details.  More information
  • New Library Search!  We have changed to a new Library Management System.  The new system means Library users benefit from a more modern, responsive and accessible search (replacing Multisearch) for finding online and print resources across UHI.  For more information on the new system and the changes see our guide to the New Library Management System.  To search for books, journals, articles etc. - try our new Library Search.

Be Distance Aware

Be Distance AwareImage shows Distance Aware shield and logos for NHS Scotland and Healthier Scotland

A new initiative has launched in Scotland to encourage people to respect the space of others when they're out and about.

The Distance Aware scheme offers everyone who would feel more comfortable when they have more room, the chance to wear an easily recognisable symbol to show others they need space and care.  the polite prompt is designed to support those who are worried about being in public places, for whatever reason, and help them feel more confident when going about their daily life.

Free lanyards and badges featuring the Distance Aware shield are available from the Shetland Library (including the community libraries in Baltasound and Mid Yell) as well as from either of our UHI Shetland libraries.

We can all play our part as we adapt to living with COVID-19. Find out more at gov.scot/distanceaware.

Search for resources

Library Search

Library Search is the library's search engine.  It provides a 'Google-like' way to find many of UHI Libraries' print and online resources at the same time.  The process of finding information from both the physical and online collections has become so much simpler.

With just one search you can find print books, ebooks, newspaper articles, ejournal articles, conference proceedings and more.  The results are listed in order of relevance to your search and you can filter and focus your search by publication format, date, location, language etc.

To ensure you can see all the titles of the articles in your search please login to Library Search before you start your search.
