Welcome to UHI Shetland Library

• October break 2024 - Both campus libraries are open over the October break (14th-25th October) our usual 'term-time' opening hours.  However, occasionally the library has to close unexpectedly.  If you are planning a visit please contact us to ensure the library is going to be open on the day you plan to visit.
• Book a Library Support session - If you would like to find out more about using the library's online resources, or need more information about library services, book a library support session (either for on campus or online).  Sessions will help you to make the most of the library resources and services available.  Contact library.shetland@uhi.ac.uk in the first instance.
• NEW Book sale trolley - Withdrawn library stock on sale for £1.00 per item (at the Lerwick Campus Library).  We can only take cash.
• Lean Library Trial - UHI Library has started a trial of Lean Library - a browser extension that simplifies access to academic resources
  
• UHI Shetland induction 2024-2025 module still available to new UHI Shetland students.

  Finding learning resources - A video and tutorial that will help you discover the resources available online and in print.
  Citing and referencing - Learn how to reference and where to find help and support  to get citing and referencing right.

• REMEMBER TO RETURN YOUR LIBRARY LOANS - please return library resources to staff in the Lerwick library, or to one of the Library Return boxes.  There's a Library Return box at the entrance to the Lerwick campus and one in the Library at the Scalloway campus.  Alternatively you can return resources using our freepost address - please see our contact information for details. More information

Library Search

Library Search is the library's search engine.  It provides a 'Google-like' way to find many of UHI Libraries' print and online resources at the same time.  The process of finding information from both the physical and online collections has become so much simpler.

With just one search you can find print books, ebooks, newspaper articles, ejournal articles, conference proceedings and more.  The results are listed in order of relevance to your search and you can filter and focus your search by publication format, date, location, language etc.

To ensure you can see all the titles of the articles in your search please login to Library Search before you start your search.

Term-time opening hours

Lerwick Campus Library

*Note the Lerwick Campus Library will be temporarily closed on Fridays until additional cover is arranged.

Occasionally the library has to unexpectedly close due to unforeseen circumstances, such as staff sickness. If you're planning a visit from further away please contact us to ensure that the library is open on the day you  plan to visit.

Scalloway Campus Library

The Scalloway Campus Library is open Monday - Friday 09.00-17.00.
