Library Search is the library's search engine. It provides a 'Google-like' way to find many of UHI Libraries' print and online resources at the same time. The process of finding information from both the physical and online collections has become so much simpler.
With just one search you can find print books, ebooks, newspaper articles, ejournal articles, conference proceedings and more. The results are listed in order of relevance to your search and you can filter and focus your search by publication format, date, location, language etc.

Occasionally the library has to unexpectedly close due to unforeseen circumstances, such as staff sickness. If you're planning a visit from further away please contact us to ensure that the library is open on the day you plan to visit.
Scalloway Campus Library
The Scalloway Campus Library is open to UHI students and staff Monday - Friday 09.00-17.00.
The usual opening hours during UHI Shetland holidays is Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, but the libraries may close when staff are on annual leave. Check the service update section above for information or contact us to ensure that the library is open on the day you plan to visit.
All UHI students and staff are welcome to use the UHI Shetland Library. If you are not a UHI Shetland student, or member of staff, please contact us before your first visit, or visit us at the Lerwick Campus Library. You will need to sign in and out each time you visit the campus.
Students from other UK universities are welcome to use the UHI Shetland Library under the SCONUL Access scheme. You must apply to use the scheme by completing the online SCONUL Access application form. Note that applications are sent via your own university library. Please contact us before your first visit, or visit us at the Lerwick Campus Library. You will need to sign in and out each time you visit the campus.
Members of the local community and visitors are welcome to come in and browse the collection at the Lerwick Campus Library. It is appreciated if you let us know in advance of your first visit and you must sign in and out each time you visit the campus.
