You may borrow up to 15 books at any one time. The loan periods vary depending on how much a book is in demand. As well as print books the Library service also provides access to a vast collection of online books which can be read online and many downloaded. Our Library Search provides information on all of the books held by UHI Shetland libraries, plus all the UHI partner library collections, as well as providing links to all of the online books.
Books for loan held by other UHI partner libraries may be borrowed through the inter-site loan scheme.
To login into online Library resources (if prompted) you will need your UHI student/D number and your password.
UHI students and staff may reserve/request items via Library Search. Click on the "Place Hold" button in the item record.
Requests can also be made by completing a "Click & Collect" or "Postal Loan" form or by emailing the book details to firstname.lastname@example.org from your UHI email account.
Please note reserved items will only be held for a limited number of days before going back into circulation. You will be sent an email when items are ready for collection.
Items can be renewed online via "My Account" in Library Search.
You can also renew your loans via the links / tiles in myday.
You can also contact us to renew your loans - email@example.com or telephone (01595) 771258. Note that we can renew them for you as long as they have not been reserved by someone else.
