Book borrowing and study space availability

Library services available to you

This guide contains information on how to access core aspects of your Library service.  Please see below for information on the following:

  • Requesting an Inter-Site Loan (a loan where the item in question is not at your own College library)
  • Arranging a Click and Collect time (if your library offers this service)
  • Requesting Postal Loans
  • Borrowing books in person
  • Returning books
  • Accessing a study space or a computer

Please use the relevant form or contact details for your College library. If you have a query about other issues, please contact the library before travelling to avoid disappointment.  To find out when your College library is open, please visit this guide.

When completing a request form, please check Library Search beforehand, as you will be required to enter the following book details:

  • Title of the book
  • Author/Editor
  • Edition or Year
  • Shelf mark, eg. 301 GID, 823 WEL

Books can be posted back to us free of of charge (if under 2kg in weight) using our Freepost address:

Yes - as well as PCs, you can borrow a laptop for the day from the LapSafes in the LRC.

Nooks are available in the LRC for those who need private study space.

How to return books Return to the JMB 1st floor library, or the drop box in SMB study room
Study Spaces and Computers There is limited work space in the JMB library 1st floor area. Priority will be given to H4 students carrying out dissertation work in the building.  Other spaces will be available on a first come first served basis. 7 workspaces and 2 computers will be available. Please refer to the latest advice form the Education department on who should be on site and observe all Covid safety measures.
