eResources : Browser Extensions

Small pieces of software help you and your browser to find more journal articles.

Quick Start Guide

Head to Lean Library download page; the extension works with Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera browsers and will automatically recognise the browser you're using. Click 'Download'  and, when asked to select your library, enter "University of the Highlands and Islands":

That's it! You're now ready to browse smarter with Lean Library browser extension.

To make it easy to access your Lean Library, pin it down to your toolbar.

Set up your preferences

You can customise the extension to fit your needs. Simply select the gear icon to open Settings:

Here you can:

  • Adjust text size
  • Set the floating button position. This button appears by default and it's a quick way for you to find the extension without the need to pin it on your browser bookmark bar. If you do not need the floating button, you can switch it off by selecting the "OFF" option under Floating Button Position settings.

  • Choose which types of notifications you want to see. We have configured the extension to ensure you get the best experience but you can decide which notifications you want to see.

  • Working on a site where you don't need Lean Library? Use the quick disable button.
