Induction: introduction to library services

Getting help is easy

We are here to help you throughout your course and there are a variety of ways you can contact us:

  • Friendly and experienced library staff are available in-person at the issue desk. Check the opening times and contact details for your local UHI library.
  • Our FAQ page has answers to the most common questions about library services.
  • Our online live chat service is staffed by librarians across UHI and is available during term-time from 9am to 5pm. It is your first port of call for assitance with library services. Staff can also connect with you on Microsoft Teams for more complex queries. During evenings and weekends, the live chat service is replaced by our chatbot service.
  • For non-urgent queries, please submit a question and the most appropriate team member will reply as soon as possible.
  • You can report technical problems to the Servicedesk team on the self-service portal.

The library service provides access to a wide range of systems and services. We strive to ensure that our systems and resources are suiable for everyone and work with vendors to make improvments in this area. Our Accessibility Guide provides further details on key systems and resources.
