During the course of writing a report, essay or other assignment, you are expected to draw on materials you have found in books, websites, journals etc. to inform your work. However, you must be clear where you are using someone else’s words or ideas and not try to pass these off as your own. This is done by referencing them correctly. Referencing is simply including the details of the books, websites, journals etc. that you have used, within your writing.
