Val is our (new) full-time wizard of words (and books), with a BA (Hons) in Archives and Library Studies from the Ionian University of Greece (School of Information Science and Informatics). With 4 years' worth of librarian experience under her belt, she brings both know-how and heart to her work at UHI Perth Library.
A devoted Tolkien enthusiast (ask her about The Hobbit - but only if you have time for a proper chat), Val blends her love of fantasy with real-world advocacy. She’s passionate about rescued dogs, sustainable living, and proving that vegan food can actually taste good.
Outside the library, Val spends her time immersed in roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons, often as a Druid. When she’s not adventuring through fantasy realms or shelving books in the library, you’ll likely find her thrifting treasures, reading on her couch, or frolicking in nature.
Hi, I am John and I have been at UHI Perth Library since 2016. Digital skills is my passion and I love helping people. I love films, walking, travel and holidays of which I constantly annoy the team by reminding them where I am going next. I also love spending time with my relatives and going to events.

I am an avid ABBA fan to the extent that I made a presentation to all staff that included titles of many ABBA songs. So, if you need any help or advice "take a chance on me" and I will be your "Super Trooper", because if it helps you reach your goal that's “The name of the game”.
With a decade of experience working in academic libraries, Holly takes pride in connecting people to the information they seek. She has worked in multiple libraries across two continents and three US states, taking on roles specialising in Inter-library/Inter-site Loans, Circulation and Team Management, and now as a Perth College UHI Library Advisor. She has also participated in public library outreach and events.
Holly holds an English degree with a focus on literature and is especially drawn to research and information services. She believes that libraries are a place where all should feel welcome, respected, and safe. Accessibility and inclusion is very important to her.
Outside of the library, Holly is a lifelong gamer and big fan of rich story universes, from Tolkien to Lovecraft and even the grimdark lore of Warhammer 40k. TTRPGs are a particular focus with the emphasis on cooperative worldbuilding. She also likes collecting oddities like crocheted Mexican food baubles, Warhammer candles, and Cthulhu plushies.
