Finding the resources you need from the UHI's collections
To search the Library for Books, eBooks, journal articles and more, we recommend you use Library Search. You should always Login to get the best results - you will find the login button on the top right of the Library Search screen.
To search using the author, keyword, title or subject, click on Advanced Search on the Multisearch page and select from the drop-down menu.
Print books located at any of the UHI Academic Partner Libraries are normally available for free loan within the university. Please ask the academic partner library where you are located for an Inter-Site Loan
You may also want to use Google Scholar to search for Journal articles. Full details in setting up Google Scholar to link with UHI resources and provide links, together with a guide to the pros and cons of using it, can be found in the Library Essentials guide.
Can't find what you need? - Requests for Purchase, Inter-Library Loans and Document Supply
Members of staff involved in Research, or students undertaking Research Degrees, are able to request material that is not currently available through the university's collections. To request the Purchase Inter-Library Loans or British Library Document supply services, please use this online form to make your requests.
We can supply
When an item is not available from the British Library, we can make requests to other University and Specialist Libraries for loans or digital copies, subject to their discretion and in compliance with Copyright Law.
Here is a selection of links to large book and journal collections outside of UHI. Search these to find material not available through UHI, which you can then request, either for purchase or by Inter-Library Loan.
