Library Extension - your own research assistant

Learn how to use the UHI Library browser extension to find and access library resources anytime, anywhere.

Assist Messages

On certain websites you'll see pop-ups appear containing useful information, such as:

  • Alerts indicating that the content you're viewing is accessible via UHI authenticated database. For example, if you're browsing a newspaper site, you might get a message explaining how to access it through UHI.

  • We might point you to a better resource, available with the UHI subscription.
  • Share important library news.
  • Or let you know if the resource is temporarily down

Scite.ai

Want to know how reliable an article is? Enable Scite.ai in the Lean Library settings to see how a publication has been cited:

When you're viewing an article, look for the Scite.ai badge in the bottom right corner.

This badge tells you how the article has been cited by others, click on it to see detailed information, including:

  • Which publications used the article as a reference.
  • All the instances they referenced the article  in-text.
  • Scite.ai classification from indicating if other researchers have supported or disputed the findings.

On Google Scholar, you'll see a bar under each result with this info:

Library Guides

Lean Library extension will offer access to UHI Library Guides that will help you with your research. When you search on Google Scholar, or a number of other academic websites, you might see a pop-up recommending help with the particular subject or research methods.
