What Is it?
Eduroam is a FREE global Wi-Fi service that offers secure, easy internet access at thousands of institutions in over 100 countries. It allows students and staff from participating institutions to connect to the internet both on their home campus and when visiting other participating institutions.
You can check where Eduroam is available by searching the Where can I eduroam? map.
How Does It Work?
First, set up Eduroam on your device while on your home campus using your institutional ID and password.
Once configured, you will be able to connect to Eduroam at any participating institution worldwide.
Is There an App?
Yes! The Eduroam Companion App helps you locate nearby Eduroam hotspots. Visit the app’s page to learn more and download it to your device.
UHI is a member of the SCONUL Access, which supports the learning needs of distance, part-time and placement students of participating institutions in the UK.
This means you have access to UHI libraries if you have been accepted for the scheme.
On arriving you must produce your printed library access approval notification email along with your home university library or ID card.
A SCONUL access account will then be created for you by the institution and their rules will apply.
Borrowing limits for Sconul access users across the UHI are as follows:

There may be some restrictions on the types of materials which can be borrowed or accessed, such as books in high demand at particular UHI academic partners. You should also appreciate that our academic partner libraries may not stock books or journals relevant to your area of study. Inter-site/inter-library loans are not included as part of Sconul access borrowing rights.
Note that licensing agreements usually restrict access to electronic databases to staff and students enrolled in UHI and its academic partners.
Should you have any queries please contact your institutional library for details.
Some UHI libraries welcome members of the public to use their study spaces and borrow books. To find out more, please contact individual libraries directly using the details provided in the UHI Libraries section of this guide.
