From August 1st 2017 Highland Health Sciences Library transferred to the University of the Highlands and Islands. It is the only major specialist health library north of Aberdeen, located in the Centre for Health Science which is on the Raigmore Hospital site on the south west side of Inverness. It serves the academic sector and is also open to all NHS Highland/Highland Council care staff to utilise as an information/evidence/best practice service and is a reference resource for patients and carers.
Knowledge/expertise - think of the Library as your information resource. Use the knowledge and expertise of the Library staff to save you time and improve patient care
Maintenance of working collection - book selection and ordering - both paper and electronic
User education - assist students and staff of all grades in using the tools they have available to them
Information skills - amplification of user education - eg assisting higher level students/staff with literature reviews
Publication/research - research and co-author articles with academic staff
Information search services - provide a local search service for time hungry NHS staff. Also participate in the NHS Scotland service providing information to staff throughout NHS Scotland
Collaboration - work with other NHS bodies such as NHS Education Scotland, and other Universities to provide support for placement students and research staff.
Shop - The Library has a small shop consisting of stationery items and stamps for purchase.
Space - The Library has study spaces, and a quiet room.

The Library is located in the Centre for Health Science in the grounds of Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Raigmore is located in the South-Eastern outskirts of the town.

Visitors to the Library are advised that there is a parking charge of £1.00 per day (or part of a day). For all those without passes exit tokens are available from the Reception Desk at the front entrance to the Centre for Health Science.
