In general, you own the copyright of any original scholarly work you create whilst studying at The University of the Highlands and Islands. This includes personal lecture notes, essays, and examination answers. If you create copyright material in collaboration with other people, then you will share copyright ownership.
If you are publishing copyright material, it could be useful to mark it with the copyright symbol © followed by your name and the year it was created. This can deter other people from using your work without permission.
