The university now subscribes to Cite Them Right, a wesbite which provides clear and concise information on referencing a wide variety of materials. It replaces the previous UHI Harvarrd standard, but also includes details on other styles such as APA and MHRA. Our referencing libguide provides further information, including an introductory video for those who are new to referencing and details of a tutorial that is available to all staff and students.
The university is adopting a new referencing style in Summer 2023 which will replace the dated UHI Harvard system. Harvard Cite Them Right will provide a more modern and accessible support site, making it clearer to students how to reference a wide variety of sources in their assignments. There will also be referencing tutorials and improved integrations with other tools such as Microsoft Word and Refworks.

Perth College library is seeking submissions to a creative writing competition which is open to all UHI students and staff. The competition is being run by the Association of Colleges in tandem with the Copyright Licensing Agency. Submissions should be no longer than 500 words.

The library service launched a new Library Search facility during Summer 2022. This video introduces the main features of the new service.
It replaces the old library catalogue (libcat.uhi.ac.uk) and the system known as Multisearch. If you have stored bookmarks or linked to records in either of the old systems, you may need to update links. There is further information in the New Library System guide.

There is no need to worry about daily overdue charges - these are no longer in place. However, if your book becomes very overdue, your local college library may invoice you for the replacement cost. If you have difficulty returning your books on time, please contact the library to discuss the matter.
Some of our libraries have book return boxes at the entrance to the building, some allow books to be returned to the library itself and some require you to post them back (often with Freepost label). Full details can be found on the Book borrowing and study space availability page.
